UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) sheet offers exceptional wear resistance, impact strength, and self-lubricating properties. With molecular weight exceeding 3.5 million g/mol, it outperforms standard HDPE in demanding industrial applications including mining, marine, food processing, and conveyor systems.
Technical Details
UHMWPE sheet is produced by compression molding of UHMWPE powder with molecular weight ranging from 3.5 to 9.2 million g/mol. The extremely long polymer chains create an entangled network that provides outstanding abrasion resistance — up to 10 times better than carbon steel in sliding wear tests. The material exhibits a very low coefficient of friction (0.10–0.22 against steel), making it ideal for sliding and wear applications without lubrication. UHMWPE is FDA and USDA compliant for direct food contact, and is resistant to most chemicals including acids, alkalis, and organic solvents. It maintains toughness at temperatures as low as -200°C, making it suitable for cryogenic applications. Available in standard white (natural), black (carbon-filled for UV resistance), blue (for food industry identification), and custom colors.
