Product Overview
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) sheet, commonly known as Teflon, offers the broadest chemical resistance of any plastic, an extremely low coefficient of friction, and excellent temperature resistance from -200°C to +260°C. Essential for demanding chemical, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor applications.
Technical Details
PTFE sheet is produced by compression molding and sintering of PTFE powder. The unique C-F bond structure gives PTFE its extraordinary chemical inertness — it is resistant to virtually all chemicals except molten alkali metals and fluorine gas at high temperatures. The extremely low surface energy (18 mN/m) results in a coefficient of friction as low as 0.04, the lowest of any solid material. PTFE is biocompatible and meets FDA, USP Class VI, and ISO 10993 standards for medical applications. It maintains excellent mechanical properties across an extremely wide temperature range (-200°C to +260°C). Virgin PTFE is white; filled grades (glass-filled, carbon-filled, bronze-filled) offer improved mechanical properties and wear resistance for specific applications.
